How do I get rid of a dog urine smell?
Hi, my daughter brought her dog when she moved back in. She sleeps in the basement with a concrete floor, and she pees and poops down there when my daughter doesn't let her out. How can I get rid of the smell? Thank you

Start with vinegar and water in a 2:1 ratio. You can also buy products made just for cleaning pet stains, Karen. Good luck!
Hi Karen. I would start with the vinegar and water. I found a product that worked great when my puppy kept going in the house. It is by Clorox Urine Remover. I tried so many but this one really killed the smell. Good Luck!
You need an enzyme cleaner from a pet store.
poor dog can't you let it out? make paste out of dawn dish soap and baking soda smear on spots then add some vinegar lots of fizzing then scrub let sit some more then rinse well this will not make dog sick no chemicals
I foster puppies and kittens, and when we have "accidents" we use Anti-icky poo. Weird name, but works great. The enzymes don't mask the odor, they neutralize it. I also use Nature's Miracle, but I like the smell of the Anti-icky poo better. Both work just as well.
We bought a house that had this same problem. Tried everything on the market. When the dog stops using the floor, you will have to seal it . Kilz primer has a sealant made especially for this. You roll it on with a paint roller, yes it will then be the color of white primer, but it will kill the smell. Then we put in new flooring, but you could paint the floor with concrete paint after sealing it.
That is just not healthy for the dog. The dog MUST be taken out regularly. And living in a basement is not ideal. If she can't take care of the dog properly, she needs to relinquish it to a no kill shelter or rescue group. Period, end of story. Yes, I feel strongly about this as I rescue animals from negligent owners.
DITTO DITTO TO THE ABOVE! THAT POOR ANIMAL. REHOME IT SO THAT IT HAS A DECENT, HAPPY LIFE!
