If you have access to a jigsaw you could cut them out.
Hello Don,
Draw a template, transfer to item, then drill hole in centre of star and use Craft Saw or Hacksaw, or Jigsaw, depending on material....Enjoy the process by doing a test run first!
A band saw or scroll saw will handle that quickly and easily. Maybe there’s a place near you that offers shop time.
what kind of wood is it? and how thick? Soft & thin woods- Craft saws;harder and thicker pieces Hack saws or Jig saws----- just cut 5 pieces of wood diamond shaped and put them together in star shape here's video took me awhile to find an easily explained one to show what I mean------- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJhNKGxhoE4
