Sorry, at this point, the paint has dried.
Paint stripper won’t work, as you can’t get it all out of the fabric.
Time to re-upholster or make a slip cover for it.
I use this trick with painted cloth crafts so it is worth a try. Put on gloves (I use gardening gloves) and fold some brown paper like a grocery bag and "sand" going in one direction. It takes some elbow grease but softens the fabric like leather. Try it in one spot like a seat cushion and wipe any dust with a damp microfiber cloth
I learned to do this in a doll making seminar to give a softer feel to the painted fabric. Good luck.
After the paint is completely dry & covered to your liking, you can take your 220-300 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the painted fabric. This will soften the fabric to perfection! You don't have to sand between coats of paint, just on the final step. yeah online help not always good to follow need to really research info. reading additional comments to see what failed or actually worked. here is way to paint upholstery https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Diy+how+to+soften+painted+upholstery+
Hi Becky,
Try brushing it with a stiff broom or brush and giving it a coat of clear or antique wax. Hope it helps....
