they want to do what you are doing the puppy sees you in garden digging/messing around they want to too. However you need to train it not to go in that area for any reason - just like housebreaking it will learn what you want it too; put up chicken wire fence to keep it out;if it is a digging breed give it it's own digging area teach it it's ok there and no where else; I have 3 dogs & 6 cats and they do not get in any of my gardens even when I'm not out with them.if it's trying to get in there to get cool because maybe it's wetter/cooler you need to wet down another area of your yard so it can cool off. I hate calling it "IT" but you don't say if it's boy,a girl or call the puppy by name.Have you bonded with your dog yet? it will make the whole process of training the little one so much easier
