How do I choose an ironing board?
HiI am thinking of finally getting an ironing board and have already looked around on Amazon. I was surprised to see that there are boards in so many different sizes, shapes and above all in different price ranges.I have no idea why can you tell me what an ironing board must have and it would be great if it doesn't cost too much?

Mine is extra tall and so am I so it is perfect. The pad and cover are important, buy the best you can afford. I am old school and iron every morning, even jeans. I have had my ironing board for 38 years. If I had to buy new , I would want the largest surface available and if it has an attached sleeve board, that would be helpful, to me at least.
the board is not as important as the cover on it ---- here is good cover https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3AG6Y3/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B01N3AG6Y3&pd_rd_w=excM7&pf_rd_p=80559f3c-f83b-49c1-8a72-40f936e9df7a&pd_rd_wg=E5j1u&pf_rd_r=190K4EB7ABQYJKXBY1E3&pd_rd_r=9c9922ab-5a17-11e9-8ded-c79105bf1765 lowest cost board https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-4-Leg-Premium-Teal-Ironing-Board/547740187?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=5190&adid=22222222227151907299&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=263704770368&wl4=pla-437089536421&wl5=9030040&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=547740187&wl13=5190&veh=sem
Hello Haas!

It depends on your needs and room. For years I used one in the laundry room that was built into the wall, I just opened the door and let it down to iron, very handy. Then for years I set up a large one in the spare room where I did my quilting and used one a lot and left it set up where no one could bump it. Now I hang one on the back of the door on my sewing room as I do not have nearly as much room in our small retirement home. So if you plan to iron often, use a smaller one that is convenient. IF you do not want to wait for one to be built into a box on the wall to use, you can buy small ones to stand on a table or even washing machine to quickly press a blouse etc. Hope this answered your question Haas.
Hello there, Before spending out your money on a new Ironing board, try buying a board from a Thrift shop or Charity Shop or any other secondhand place. Add a new Padded cover and see how you go. You will soon know what it is you personally want from an Ironing table! A lot of people are throwing out perfectly good Ironing boards at the moment sadly, because they don't Iron or Press anything . Ironing boards are also good to use as instant fold away craft tables. I have also used mine as a Sewing Machine Table too. Take care...
Table top ones are only good for an emergency or small stuff. Your classic waist high fold out ironing board is the best.
You can probably find an ironing board at an estate sale for cheap.
