What should I do with my privacy fence?
I have a privacy fence that is probably 15 yrs. old and weathered. I want to add the privacy lattice to the top as it is just not quite tall enough. My question is the new lattice will be very noticeable with new wood on top of old wood. Should I try to gel stain the whole thing? Should I just paint it? I want it to look very natural for the home site. I have been looking around and just don't see that many painted privacy fences or stained one either. Suggestions?

You will have to add talker posts to add the lattice. Lattice is not usually treated like fencing so staining would be my answer. Also your fencing is pushing it's life expectancy so staining it too, would help it. Stain will outlast and protect better than paint.
You can put a bunch of old nails or steel wool in vinegar. After a couple of days, you will have a stain that looks like weathered wood. Very cheap and very effective. Test it out on a scrap and you will see whether or not you might want to dilute it or let it sit a few more days to achieve the color that you want.
Using a paint or stain will help the life of your fence and if you add the lattice it will all match.
use vinegar stain to age/weather the lattice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP0pO-Xe0tQ it should match the older weathered fence then if you decide to restain everything it will look more alike.one more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vRuApC5Cwo another https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V39EWs2aPrM&t=300s one more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFLpJIYZWkw
Deck stain for fence and decks. Gel stain won't hold up to weather. Also check your codes on how high fence you can go.
