How do I make a natural spray for outside ants?

I'm looking for a mixture to kill outside ants. I had it before but misplaced the recipe. I used it last year and it worked really good. Even on those nasty little red ants that bite. Thank You.

I've read, here on hometalk that Rosemary repels ants.

Another poster uses Jiffy corn muffin mix; sprinkled on top of ant hills, around your foundation and along trails inside. The sugar in the mix draws the ants, they eat the corn meal but can't digest it so they die.

I don't know about a spray, but I use the sweetened cornbread and muffin mix. I shake it on the mound or hole where they live liberally. They take the stuff because it is sweet, but they can't digest the cornmeal and any and that eats it will die. Depending on the size of their home and the size of the ants it may take a few applications to kill off all the ants in the mound. This is something that won't hurt anything except ants and other critters like them and is safe for all the wildlife including pets and humans.

  • I use packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.

I read this from : Itsmemic

Medicated powder from the Dollar Tree. It has eucalyptus in it...menthol...I puff it around my homes foundation..and inside under my birdcages in the cracks under moldings. Work immediately and they never come back. I do this at the first sign of ants..in one day..GONE. The powder is in a very large container and lasts quite awhile too !! And smells great !

Not toxic to my birds OR dog

Use cornmeal. We had an acre full of ant hills in a new subdivision. WE tried everything, then an old timer told us cornmeal kills ants. They cannot digest it. We used Jiffy cornmeal because it is sweet. Our yard was cleared in a matter of 3 days and when we'd get a new hill in the spring we fed them cornmeal and that solved it for the season again. Here is a picture of one place we used it: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/outdoor/pest-repeller/ants-safe-and-effective-cure-36651130
