I read a while back that one can use a mixture of home ingredients to repel Kant’s and mosquitoes. Does anyone out there know the recipe?

Vinager in the bottom of a jar you can pitch. I use Apple cider vinager in the jar to attract the gnats. Put a paper funnel in the neck of the jar.it will lead them to the bottom and hopefully drown.

mosquitos do not like citrus ie cetronella works ok, but the little blood suckers breed in water...so dump out any thing in the yard that collects water, check gutters for proper draining. Real vanilla will also repel them. Ants get half borax and half sugar, mix well. Sugar attracts them, the borax kills.

  • You can also get tablets to add to anything in your yard that has standing water. The tablets release something that kills the mosquitos and their eggs.

Mosquitoes will avoid moving air. If you can place an oscillating stand fan in the area, they should avoid it. Gnats can be repelled by spraying the ground area and vegetation with a mixture of (1 tsp. ) Dawn Ultra dish liquid, 1/4 c. Vodka or whisky, 1/4 cup chewing tobacco "tea", and 1 Tbsp. peppermint extract and or a few drops lemon essential oil. Combine in a garden sprayer such as made by Miracle Grow. Fill with water using your garden hose, and spray everything in early morning. Some people place a golf ball inside the sprayer bottle to keep the mix agitated.

Make sure to thoroughly wash out container after each use, using soapy water to avoid clogs in the sprayer.
