How far away can I move the sump pump from its pit?
Some previous owner put the sump pump and pit right in front of the basement window and I'm looking at moving the pump over a bit (how far?) or building a box around it or something as it's the only window in the finished basement and it looks terrible, sitting out there in front of the window. I'm evaluating moving the window, which is a lot of work, based on the header and exterior siding issues. I know I'm not going to pay for a plumber to excavate and make me a new pit, that's a no-ROI.

As far as time and cost goes your best option would be to just cover it up. If it is in a pit, you would have to move the pit over to the move the sub pump. You could always build a nice box around it, maybe build it like a bench to provide seating by the window.
I agree with Grandmashouse bench idea just make sure it's easily moved for repairs, access; the air hole and air circulation around it are not blocked as well as electric access.
Covering it with a bench type seat would be the most sensible way to deal with it. You also would need to keep it connected to the power source if you attempted to move it, plus the length of the discharge hose would limit how far it could get moved. If you wanted to disguise a cover, you could have drawers like under the bed storage units have.
Our sump is in a deep hole, but it has a clear plastic cover over it that you can remove for replacement or maintenance. I am lucky, mine is in my basement workroom/storeroom. Usually they are placed according to where the most need for one is in your basement. I would check with one of the companies that does work on basements that have water problems, they would know what you can or cannot do to cover it or move it.
My son's sump is in the basement storage room. My parents sump was inside in their basement also. I thought they had to be in the room that was the most apt to have water get in. My father's sump quit working and they had water in their basement before getting it fixed..
Build a box around it, but be sure you have access if it ever needs repair or replacing.
