Make sure you don't have tall grass and weeds they like to hang around in this. At least in my yard in between cuttings.
Snakes are beneficial in the yard, unless poisonous. Here are some things you can try:

Snakes will keep down the other pests but scary. We have copperheads in my area ( out in the country) but I don't try to kill them. Keep your grass/weeds down and be careful where you walk. I often open my door which has a rail and I find a snake hanging on it or in the tree above it, thank goodness I had a security light which came on when I opened my door and saw the snake late at night to let the dog out and don't leave your doors or windows open. Didn't answer your question....Sorry the snakes got to make a living also..
You can use a solar snake repelter that you put in the ground and this could help for sometimes but depends on the type of snakes and numbers
Snakes tend to be attracted by rodents, which visit areas with birdseed, grass seed, tall grass, wood piles, brick piles, stacked timbers, animal feces, ground ivy or evergreen ground covers, etc.
If you disturb their habitat and remove the aforementioned articles, the snakes should disappear.
