Is enclosed? Hooks on the wall and a bench to sit are the basics. If you are enclosing an existing open porch, you will need permission and plans first.
Hi Deborah, you can add hooks for coats, scarves and maybe a storage bench, where people can sit and take their shoes off. Apartment Therapy has some lovely suggestions here - https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/the-7-elements-of-a-perfect-mudroom-193486 and a friend of mine in Germany simply turned a pallet into a shoe rack that works like a charm. You can see how she sis it here - https://northernfeeling.com/2018/09/22/diy-easy-pallet-shoe-rack/
Keep in mind this will be a transition space from outdoors to in. Depending on your weather, people may not want to remove coats and shoes in a space that is still "outside". So yes, you need hooks and shoe storage along with a bench but still decide if you need to enclose the space for comfort.
