Make it a rock garden
What about flagstone or a deck?
pull the weeds regularly and plant some shade loving perennials amoung the rocks or pick them up and put them into border for garden edging. Mondo grass does well in shade no maintenance comes in nice green color or black with flowers, dwarf size too;Coral Bells,Columbine,Toad Lilies,Hostas are all for shade they will grow in most places in world. this is world wide site and you don't say where you live/climate??
Try boosting the soil with compost or purchase manure and mix it in. Plant shade loving plants, i.e. Hosta, Caladium or hens and chicks which are succulents.. Good luck!
You need shade loving plants. Hostas, impatients, begonias, lily of the valley, and sweedish ivy all do well in shade.
Ohhh you can have a really pretty shade garden! Lots of hostas and a nice sitting area. Here's what we did with our super shady spot. And it is a great place to sit in the shade in the summer.
