A picture would be helpful but here are a few vague ideas. Paint - give the walls a few coats to change the color theme. A new shower curtain to coordinate with the new paint color. And of course a new throw rug. Are there windows in the bathroom? If so curtains that match the shower curtain. An over the toilet storage unit would give you more space for towels, etc. If you already have one think about spray painting that. If you want to redo your countertops here is an idea (I am going to do this in the summer when I can open the windows for ventilation) https://www.hometalk.com/diy/bathroom/cabinets/my-little-bathroom-makeover-for-50-26272337. If you do that use water based poly because oil based tends to yellow.

  • A total gut job? Or just a refresh with paint, fixtures, hardware and decor?

I skim coat my walls that had a slight alligator crazing to them. Then primed and painted. New shower curtain, coordinating towels and rug made a great difference. Then I put in a new medicine cabinet and light fixture above.... the old one was from the 40s with a built-in florescent light..ewwww.

I suggest new hardware on the newly painted cabinets. The hardware doesn’t have to be the most expensive. For instance, you can buy stainless steel or discount hardware and spray paint it whatever metallic you like with Rustoleum 2X, about $5 a can. Paint the towel bars, mirror trim—anything you want to look like metal. Every piece does not have to match, but it can if you want that. Have some fun! Jewell
