Marigolds are good insect fighters
To make them tastier add coffee grounds or plant by roses. If slugs and snails are bothering them crush egg shelllds and sprinkle round the tomato plant base. With eggshells and the coffee make sure your dogs and cats can’t eat them so block them out
Basil planted in front of tomatoes makes for a sturdier tomato plant. Epsom salts sprinkled in the planting hole will provide increased magnesium for the tomato.
Wrapping bottom 3" of stem (above ground level) with newspaper, secured to stem will deter hornworms.
Marigolds will deter a variety of insects. Add some crumpled aluminum foil around the base to deter slugs and snails.
Intersperse chives or garlic to deter rabbits, deer, etc.
Borage planted amongst tomatoes will attract more pollinators.
Sage and thyme are always helpful in a garden.
