Amdro Ant bait granules; sprays or liquids just kills the ants you see walking around, the Amdro granules they carry back to colony kills the whole mound and quickly. put it right next to trail or outer edge of mound don't disturb trail or mound they won't pick it up as quickly then they take back into colony. works fast 2-24hrs. gone. then clean up any left over bait, cover it to keep out kids, pets; it is poison just don't block trail so they keep working carrying back to colony.
You can poke a hole in the center with a long stick and pour boiling water into the mound.
I used this method for years but this year starting getting ants in an area that was rough terrain so I purchased Sevin. You put a cup on the mound and sprinkle water. The next day they ants are dead. They don't just move.
