    Get rid of any peeling or sloppy paint. Keep lines crisp. Use a razor blade. Sand any rough or chippy paint. For repainting, use a modern color or use aluminum strips. Let the glass shine. Best wishes! Jewell

    There are many books and You Tube videos that can show you how to do the mortar work. Run electric line from source to the post. Use either a switch in the house or a photocell at the light to control light. Wires need to be outdoor rated and should be buried inside plastic pipe for protection. You can use low voltage lights and wire as an alternative to 110V wire.

    Connie, after a fresh paint, if you want to add some more updated ideas: people are stenciling some decor on windows, making new updated shades and even stencilling curtains, or make an updated valance that is easy to create. If you click on "explore projects" then "decorate" then type windows, curtains, or valance in the search box you will find an unlimited amount of info and projects.
