How can I keep squirrels from eating my green bean plants?

I have a raised bed garden and am attempting to grow green beans...but every morning there are plants that have been eaten off down to the stem. I know it isn't deer because there are no tracks. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are you sure it is squirrels that are responsible, and not groundhogs or rabbits?

Yes, it is a high raised bed and rabbits and groundhogs can't get in it.

I agree with flipturn, more than likely rabbits or groundhogs.

Squirrels might eat the beans, but not the plant itself.

Putting fencing around them should help.

Get some 2 foot high tin flashing make a circle around the plant push it down in the ground A few inches, connected The Ends together. they can’t crawl over, it’ is too Smooth for them to grab onto. Also works to keep mice out of vehicles that Are parked in buildings were you have a mice problem. Just make sure there’s nothing next to it that they can crawl up onto and jump over.

Suround your plant with wire mesh or fencing.
