This mirror is over 30 years old.
What can I do with this mirror?
I am trying to give my bathroom a small update and want to know what I can do about this mirror without having to remove it. I don’t want to leave holes in the wall and then have to paint behind it again. Any suggestions?

Wow. Very Morrockan . Is,the black and gold wallpaper or mirror, too?
Not sure what you can do other than replace. You can always cover up a hole or repair.
Hi! Yes the black and gold is part of the mirror too. Do you think it is too old? I know that nowadays different styles are mixed- old and new.
Is it possible that the black\gold part is just a wood overlay on top of a rectangle mirror? Why not just paint the overlay to match the walls. It would still be a conversation piece.
Well, you could find a nice trim to put just around clear mirror even though you'd have to mider wood in a curve which could be filled with a wood filler. Paint it thenGlue it on. It would make it look like you have two separate pieces.
Paint over mirrors tends to get scratched really easily. I would find a peel and stick wallpaper to go with your new look and put that over that black & gold part. 😎
I had pretty much the same problem when I moved into my house. Great big ugly mirror. I think you should try and run with it, make it fun. You could paint the gold and black tile with a beautiful bright colored spray paint, and then glue dollar store glass gems to it in a pretty mosaic pattern around the edge of the mirror. Found this one for an example. Good Luck and have fun.

How to Easily Decorate and Pretty Up a Photo Frame With Mosaic Glass
I agree its very unique. It just needs a little embellishment. Right now its a like a matted picture with no frame. I would add wide molding up both sides and across the top. Maybe even do a "double mat" by adding a thin flat piece of luan etc under the molding. My preference for the mirror frame would be black but you could try other colors.
