Linoleum floors can be painted and sealed, but be aware that they will not wear well.

If they are yellowed from a wax buildup- either buy a wax remover, or try sudsey ammonia mixed with water. Then there are products to reapply a shine.

    Hi Kevin,

First do as Lisa suggested and remove any old wax. Over the years, I've removed tons of wax products until I just stopped using any at all. Sudsey ammonia was always what worked for me, but it's not an easy job. If the floor looks fairly good once the wax is off, you could apply just a sealer if you don't want to paint it. Start with 2 coats of a really good sealer that won't yellow. From there, I'd watch it yearly to see if it needs another coat of sealer. As Dee said, this idea as well as painting is most likely temporary, but people have had good luck if they prep well and use good products. Eventually you will most likely have to replace it, but cleaning it up as we've all described can buy you some time and it could be years. Wishing you the best.
