How do I put down stick-on vinyl tiles on a bathroom floor?
I have a very small area around my commode where I want to put down 12" x12" stick on vinyl tile. Do you have any tips as I have never done this before.

First you have to turn off water and remove the toilet, scrape up the old wax ring and throw away. Wash the old floor down with TSP, dry. If you can it would be best to remove old floor. Also need to remove the 1/4 round. Put back when finished. The trim.and 1/4 round will be forgiving somewhat if you don't cut the tile, perfectly.

I would make a paper pattern of the area you want tiled and cut the tiles from this. Make sure you put the new vinyl tiles staggered over the seams of the existing tiles (not aligned) so the new tile seams don't split open.
Hello, What are the tiles on you floor at the moment made of? If ceramic and very smooth, I would consider a stick on tile that covers most of the tile but not all of it.
IF YOUR TILE IS VINYL - then go ahead but not directly on top of originals, better to set them in the middle (where the 4 tiles join) as they are less likely to lift! A Warm Iron is useful to warm up the glue or maybe a hairdryer!!

Hi there, Charlene. I did this awhile ago in my small bath and it still looks great. And we did not lift off the toilet. All I used was one of those gizmos from the hardware store called a contour gauge. It is under ten dollars. You simply press the 'pins' against an object and it creates the line you want to copy. So easy! You just trace that line onto your new surface. To cut, I used heavy duty scissors and a new blade on a box knife. Just follow the directions on the box and you'll be amazed at the results. Looks just like ceramic tile!
