Hi Jenny, it depends on if you can reach the branches, and you want to be sure the branches won't fall on the roof (or you) when you prune them off. If they're light enough to not do any damage to the house, then you can definitely prune them yourself. If they're larger, prune any small limbs coming off of the main branch first.
Hi ! They make a pole saw . They are used from the ground and reach up 16 ft . But it depends on the thickness of the branch . You use it by pulling a cord attached to the pole . Good luck !
If you have to ask for other people’s opinions who know neither you or your house you should probably find a tree trimmer who does it for a living.
What type of trees? Pruning at the wrong timecan hurt the trees.
I'm not sure what kind of a tree it is. It flowered recently with a beautiful scent and now the berries are forming.I can saw the branches over my skylights and was concerned.
Most trees can be trimmed without damage at most any time. Pruning depends on whether you want blossoms, or fruit. As long as you are not doing a major trim all over the tree a few branches are fine to cut when you need to. If it over you sky light it sounds like it is pretty high up for a pole trimmer. Use a ladder and cut from the tree or call someone to do so if you are not able. Look for video on trimming if you have never done so, so you will not get hurt by not making the proper cut and avoid the branch kicking back on the person trimming.
