Tia.....Attach together with screws the number you want. I would probably cut a thin piece of plywood the size of the attached crates and cover that with foam rubber and fabric pulling taut from sides. Then adding braces or screws to attach to plywood to crates to secure. Good luck! I'm sure you will get some great ideas from Hometalkers!

I'd take two crates and run a board across the top. Paint/stain as desired and top with seat cushions.
