Are you using masonry morter? Can't use, just concrete. It needs to be thick enough to butter the back and hold itself in place. Real flag stone is pretty heavy for vertical applications, really best for horizontal uses. Better to use flag stone veneer. You can also try exterior rated construction adhesive in a caulk tube. Put on back and stick to wall. If still sliding, your stone is too thick. Install like tile, fill in gaps with morter when done.
Hello, I can say nothing different, Kelli says it all!
All your options are listed above. I can't think of anything else. I bet it will look fabulous when you're done.
First, make sure your mortar mix is right. It’s got to be the consistency of peanut butter. Then buy a bunch of heavy, long screws. Figure out where you want to place the stone, apply the mortar to the stone and the wall and then screw in the screws beneath the stone to hold it in place while the mortar sets. Then just remove the screws before pointing between the stones with the mortar.
It’s a lot of work but you’ll be patting yourself on the back when you’re done. Good luck!
I can't really add anything more then what was said above . Please post your finished project !!! It looks like it will be amazing looking !
