If you are like me, you have more than food in the pantry. I put small appliances I use only for certain holidays on the top shelves. We put shelves from floor to ceiling on all the walls. In the end of the pantry are all my cleaning supplies like bar soap as well as vinegar and swiffer dusters etc. In the other top shelves all the way around we keep paper products: kleenex tissues, bathroom tissue, paper towels, paper plates etc. In another section we have all my home canned goods as well as canning supplies including my canning pots etc. In a small section we keep "quick meal" supplies like to make chicken salad from canned chicken, chili from cans of beans and meat, pastas, etc. On another: rice in large bags, flour, sugar, etc. In another section are all my vegetables, and on another wall are my canned fruits, jams, and jellies. Whatever you store (especially in winter for our area) for staples. However you keep your pantry full, decide in main categories and store them accordingly. Be sure to have shelves and room for all. In my kitchen I have a small pantry where I keep large items I have opened like large boxes of rice, open sugar, open flour (sugar and flour are in sealed container but have been opened), and I love the door hanger where I keep small items I use often for cooking like minced onion, cupcake and muffin papers, etc.
