These are perennials that were in my garden when I moved in. I believe they’re all herbs. What do you think they are? (Green beans added for a sense of scale). Thanks.

q what are these 3 herbs

Tall one in the center/back is oregano.

It looks like you have some Thyme on the left and maybe a bit of mint there in the middle. Not too sure about the more yellow one.

And the second picture looks a lot like sage, although the leaves are larger than I grow. It also looks like it could be lamb's ear. I've never grown that, but have seen photos. I'd suggest doing some research on both sage and lamb's ear to see if it helps you narrow it down.

It is sage....not sure what variety. Not russian, it has much smaller elongated leaves

  • Ok on the photo on the top, the plant on the left looks like thyme - many varieties out there, I grow French, lemon and creeping varieties. Fabulous in soups, stews and roasts. Not sure what is on the right, I am on a tablet and not a desktop. So my photo viewing isnt of the best quality.

The photo on the bottom looks like a sage to me. I have something similar. Use sparingly, as flavor intensifies when cooking and can be over powering. I air dry and use in drawers like a sachet.

I should clarify. The plant that resembles a mint to me is really small. Sort of leaning forward towards the front...not the large oregano in the back.

Looks like thyme on the left and golden oregano on the right. Lucky you! The sniff test (pick the herb, crush the leaf, sniff it) can also help you -- you can compare the smell to what's in a spice cabinet.
