You could lay Stepping Stones. or edge the walkway and lay weed suppressant fabric and top with Gravel, or use a combination of both stepping stones and gravel.

I think stepping stones are great. You can buy a mold and make your own if you are really ambitious. LOL!
Remove grass, lay down preen then weedblock. Lay in lawn edging along both sides. Set down large square or rectangular stones leaving space all around the stones. Put rock/gravel down within the edging and around the rock. We did this along our sidewalk with marble chips from Home Depot, it looks sharp and makes our lavender along the sidewalk pop!
