Can I make a DIY countertop from high grade vinyl flooring?
I want to upgrade my laminate countertops but can't afford quartz or pay the cost of labor. So, I wonder if I could buy a piece of high grade vinyl flooring & glue it to the old countertop.

Hey
Well you certainly could give it a try. You'll have to pull up your sink so it can go under it and be careful around your stove. Remember will melt and cut easily. If you have a molded countertop with a curved backsplash and front curved edge, I don't think the vinyl will hold the curves and will be very problematic.
Have you thought about using the granite look paint kits made for laminate counters. Kits for that are sold at home depot. Step by step instructions are in the kit. Prep is very important. They look great and last a good while if you dont abuse it.
You can paint them. Vinyl flooring has a thin surface. Can be easily damaged and gouged. If you do go that way you will need to use contact cement to glue it down. Coat the counter and the back of the vinyl. Wait till tacky to the touch then stick it on.
