This site shows you lots of ways to store and hang a garden hose:

I don't hang mine...I found a witches cauldron on the curb and coiled the hose in it, no holes in the house and its behind a bush so who cares...I did drill a couple of holes for drainage.....bet you could also use a very large flower pot...I've see no those on the curb faded out but they could be painted

You'll have to consider the length of the garden hose. Ours hangs from a hose holder. We previously bought one from a store but we decided to be more creative and take matters into our own hands when it broke. Another option is a garden hose reel - understandably more expensive, but might be necessary for a longer hose. With it comes benefits though that this source summarizes well: neat storage, protection from elements (wind, rain, etc.), longer shelf life, and draining after use.
