Ray...Goo Gone works for me!
Try straight edge razor blades if that don’t work use goo gone sold at Home Depot
Soak with water to remove the paper. Vegetable oil, WD40, Goo Gone - one of those for the adhesive removal.

a Product like goof off will etch the plastic but you can use first dawn dish soap followed by alcohol, alternatively try a little coconut oil and your fingernail to see if you can scrape off the glue. Then clean well to remove all oils before painting.
I use Goof Off and it works well!
Could try WD-40
Take off what you can w/ your fingers or knife blade. Then get the goo off w/ lighter fluid or acetone (nail polish remover).
