DIY Plywood Plank Floors
We added a plywood underlayment when we installed hardwood. First you'll want to make sure your subfloor is smooth so you get the best finish. Counter sink any protruding nails using a hammer and a heavy duty nail punch. If you want to really get a smooth finish rent a floor sander to smooth out all subfloor boards. Then lay your plywood with construction adhesive to the subfloor. You'll need some nails to hold it in place since the plywood is so wide. You might be able to find long finish nails that you can fill in the holes with sawdusts and a little wood glue so they disappear when you sand/paint the floor.
