How do I do this
I am getting ready to do mine the same way. I am going to chalk paint mine. To chalk paint I do not sand or anything, just clean off the cabinets with warm soapy water and remove the doors and hardware. Then paint it, then put on a sealer, like a polyurethane (they make the non yellowing kind now) or wax them. For an inexpensive formula to chalk paint, mix 1 part baking soda in 2 parts paint (If you mix up 2 cups of paint, add 1 cup of the baking soda). I use just kitchen baking soda. I usually do 2 layers but let the layers dry between the first and second application. Try doing it on a small item like a wooden plaque or small wooden seat or something to learn about chalk painting. It really is not difficult and looks wonderful. White or light gray are very in vogue now. That would lighten your kitchen much!
Hi Debrs, you can paint, stain or whitewash the dark cabinets, I love chalk paint for this as it coats nicely and there are a variety of colors!
