They are leaving dirt piles and holes all over my lawn. I have tried to drown them, but they are still here and digging.
I use Spectracide Weed and Feed in the hose end sprayer. No mixing no mess. Kills the weeds and feeds the lawn. A thicker lawn leaves no room for weeds. I apply it in the spring and middle of summer.
Yes, you’ll need to buy a specific crabgrass killer.
Karen, since some products have shown themselves to be dangerous to humans and pets, the best we have found now is Tenacity. You put it in a sprayer along with a product to help it to stick called Surfactant. They also recommend you use a dye in it to see where you have sprayed. It is best to spray only once and lightly over anything not grass. It works slowly, but you apply it and leave it on the lawn for a week to ten days. It begins to kill the weeds and the grass will begin to fill in. It is best not to spray any area more than once because then it will harm the grass. Also, let it dry before children or pets are out on it.
Try Scott's Halts. It's specifically for crabgrass. Timing is everything.
