How do I redo my wood floors cheaply?
You can re stain or paint them. Labor is the biggest expense but if you are doing it yourself, the cost isn't bad.
Floor sanding it not difficult. Most rentals have time periods. You should be able to sand a floor in one night. IT IS MESSY. Remove everything from the room. Seal the room off with plastic as the dust will travel to every nook and cranny of your house. Get an orbital sander. The real thing you need to know is KEEP THE SANDER MOVING. People let it sit in one spot and it takes the wood of quickly and you will have gouged areas or low spots. The sander is heavy but once you place it on the floor all you have to do is slide it. Keep it moving and watch what you are doing then go back to area if it needs more work. I redid mine with 2 coats of stain after thorough cleaning and 3 coats of poly.
I used the rejuvenate and it is crap. Total waste of money. No need for any special care once you redo floor.
Cheapest option. Wipe stain on top of current stain with a rag. Do a small area and you will be shocked at how nice it looks with just a coat of fresh stain over the top of the old.
Sand them and paint them!
Rent a sander with a filter and bag that collects the dust. You can use that sanded wood to fill the floor....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhtiKOcZa3E
