Hey Betty! You could absolutely add plywood strips to make it look like a modern door! Angela Rose Home did an awesome tutorial on this on Instagram! She took cheap under-layment plywood (costs 11 bucks at Home Depot) and glued them to a mirrored closet door...then glued on the handle! It looks amazing even though at the time everyone was saying it wasn't going to last! Lol! She reposted that it has been 6 months and it is still going strong! There are many options out there! You could add molding overlays to it and leave the mirror showing through behind it like this I found here on HomeTalk! Hope this helps!

Mirrored Closet Door Makeover
You could use window trim around the edges and make them look like high end doors.
There's a product called O'verlays that would give the mirrors a glam look. Otherwise, maybe peel and stick wallpaper. There are so many fun designs. Some even mimic wood.
