DIY Egg Carton Roses Step by Step
Styrofoam roses from egg cartons are very easy. Cut each cup from the carton, giving 24 cups, 12 small and 12 cups larger. Along the edges of each cup, shape four petals, leaving the bottom of the cup intact to hold the petals in place. Then stack two larger cups, turning the top one so the petals are alternating. Then add 2-4 smaller cups in the stack, after trimming the petals. Alternate the cups, also, to keep the petals alternating. Use a long green or brown pipe cleaner. I like the sparkly ones. Twist one end to form a small ball or stemen. Use a sharp nail or an ice pick to form a hole through all the cup layers. Push the pipe cleaner through the cups, leaving the stemen in the top cup. One twist of the pipe cleaner under the cups should hold everything in place. You can use craft paint to touch up the edges of the petals, or even paint entire cups. If you have a green egg carton, use a green cup on the bottom and make the petals into leaves by cutting sharper tips and edges. Or paint a cup green for the same purpose. Gather a dozen or so roses together and place them in a container, with enough rocks, shells, marbles, straw or other materials to hold the roses steady in the vase or other container. The roses can be trimmed shorter if the stems are too long. These are easy enough for children to make them, but they are pretty enough for a lovely arrangement. Best wishes to you! Jewell
