You could paint the dressers to match the colors in your garage, or leave them as is... I would go to a container store and look for drawer storage containers that suits what you need. Get a couple of large baskets for storage on top of the dresser.
Our neighbors did the same with an old dresser. Aleen, they used it for hand tools storage, and other small objects they did not want to hang on pegs for garden objects like pegs, labels, small pots, garden gloves etc. Also, they used to top to work on when potting small plants etc. It was really useful and versatile for their old dresser in the garage!

Depends on the construction of the dresser and what you need in your garage of course, but I would suggest either a workbench or potting bench. Whatever you decide to do, I would strongly suggest not just loading up the existing drawers with tools. Dresser drawers are not designed to hold that kind of weight.
