I am in the process of organizing my craft room and am not done yet. One thing I did was put all my paints and small tools etc in 3 hanging shoe hangers on the back and front of the closet door and inside the room door. One holds my paints, easily seen in each pocket and I put several in each pocket and all the pockets are organized by color. There are 24 pockets and 2 or 3 in each one so it holds all my paints. The second one holds doo dads like jewelry wires, glass beads, glue, etc small hand tools like a wire cutter etc. and suppies in one half and tools on other half. Again, for several small glue containers all in one pocket etc it holds an amazing amount of supplies and I can see very quickly what I need. The third one holds spray paints and spray glues, or other large cans, one per pocket. My next plan is to put up a peg board with S hooks for more tools, and contact paper covered box with dowel rods to hold all the ribbons and things on spools. Also, a teachers cupboard holds all my cloth and papers (like they use with slots for various paper products). I am still working on a cabinet that will contain everything, but I do have a craft table that includes a line of pockets on the side to hold small objects and a plug in on the top for my glue gun when I need it plugged in and handy. This idea of an electric plug has saved me a lot of time and hassle to be able to quickly plug in the hot glue gun. It is a table my husband made for me. Hope this helps you get some ideas. My final step will be inexpensive book shelves with CLEAR small tubs so I can see what is in them plus I will mark them too.
here's mine for some inspiration:

One of my new favorites is over the door shoe holders. One for scarves, one for grocery bags & dog leashes. Two in craft room hanging from sides of cabinet holding : patches, elastic, ribbons, colored pens & pencils. Easy to see everything at once & rearrange when I decide to change it up. I may get more!
