How do I refinish these vases
how do I refinish these vases
I think sanding them down a bit then spray painting them would be the route I would try. I hope this works out for you 😊
I would give them a light sanding and then spray paint them. Here's a post about spray painting vases from my blog. https://colormethrifty.com/2017/07/how-to-spray-paint-glass-vases-and-wooden-tulips-like-a-pro.html
I have read all about painting g things like this and listening to all of your advice I think I wll go ahead and change the look
Hi there! I’d clean thoroughly, give a light sanding and spray paint the color you’re hoping for.
I agree with Janet. To change these, sand lightly then spray paint in a design of your choice. I would actually use a separate primer since I've had some spray paint that was also supposed to prime chip off too easily. Wishing you the best.
The new versions of spray paint that include spray paint and primer are wonderful thing to use for most glass and plastic items. There are so many choices now a days between metallics -chalk paint- textured- flat satin glossy sheens. The hard part can be deciding on the color choice.
Although your previous responders have given you the best advice about painting these vases I would not recommend doing so. These vases have a very beautiful finish, that will be totally lost. They also have a nice design and look expensive. I would think about it before painting them.
Emily has a valid point. You might want to research this style of vases, if you don't already know the value or when & where they originated.
However these vases belong to you, whether you purchased them new or used and you are, of course, free to do as you please with them.
If you decide to paint them, I think the others have given you good advice on how to do that.
Your enjoy your vases however you choose!
I am a huge spray paint fan and I think these would look great spray painted.
Without any makers marks or stampings on the bottom they're worth about $75 each. You can spray paint them with Rustoleum 2X spray paint. All types of colors, finishes, metal tones. I would paint them an iridescent color or mix. Then a high gloss clear coat.
That is exactly what I was planning on doing thanks for validating my choice these are beautiful vases but don't fit our decor
I would lightly sand them down, apply auto primer, Rustoleum makes a good one. Then lightly sand again. Spray paint with Rustoleum in the color of your choice.
These are beautiful! Before you change their look try to find a different arrangement
I plan to get a very fine sandpaper . Sand..spray with a Matt primer....then I am going to choose the colour that suits our decor. I am going to do an acrylic pour. Hey its only paint
220 grit sandpaper should work. Matte primer is good. Several light coats will give you a smooth finish. Love the acrylic pour idea. I do that on canvas. Different colors. Black primer would work great. Several light coats of high gloss clear coat would give it the look of glass.
How would you prefer that they looked?
