Michele, if you have a wooden head board this should not be too hard to start with one dark color and fade into a couple more colors. For example one I saw had red on the bottom, that faded into a rich orange and that faded into a bright yellow. You might need to mix two paints a little to fade such as the red with a little of the orange in on a small pallet to fade into the red then fade into the bright orange. Repeat with orange and yellow. It would certainly be unique! Choose your favorite colors together such as dark purple to light purple to lavender or 3 hues of brown, or 3 hues of blue etc. It depends on your preference and house colors. Hope this helps.
You could ice dye a drop cloth and then upholster a piece of wood to create a headboard!

Use a spray bottle to blend the wet paint. Chalk paint works best for blending. Brush side to side instead of up and down to blend the colors.
