For good jewelry I would buy a very nice container that is lined with velvet or plush. I have a lovely wooden jewelry box I bought for under $25 in our area's wonderful discount store. It has one section that is lidded (top) and three drawers. All these sections are divided into different sized "boxes" and the top "drawer" has a ring section. Just look in your area and you can find a nice box, or maybe on Amazon. I also use plastic boxes for earrings and I hang my necklaces. Alas, I have no "good" jewelry. Just jewelry I like.
Chris, if you to go "explore projects" then "build" and type in "large jewelry box" you will see many examples. I have chosen one for you made from durable cardboard! Here it is:

Very Useful Handmade Cardboard Organizer Jewelry Holder!
I always see large jewelry boxes and armoires in the goodwill and at thrift stores and they're very inexpensive. You could pick one up and then spruce it up or give it a makeover. Just a thought...
I agree. You could find nice jewelry boxes in thrift stores that you can paint or refurbish. You could also decorate and use good cookie tins, etc.
