Vintage Child's Crib Makeover
I have been searching for the LONGEST time for a vintage crib to fix up for Ryan. But the ones I did find were either way too large or way too expensive. My mom and I finally got a chance to go antiquing together and we spotted the cutest little baby crib ever! It needed some paint but it was perfect. Complete with casters too!
I had “faith” by Country Chic Paint on hand and decided to give it a whirl. Ryan wanted pink and this was the closest color I had. It turned out so beautiful that we painted her vanity with it too! It only took two coats to completely cover the crib and went on like butter.Use TWOPAWS10 for a discount at Country Chic Paint!
I also applied some dark wax once it had dried to give it more of an aged look. I just apply this randomly using a wax brush and brushing in different directions.
As I walked through the door with this Ryan’s first words were “oh my, is that a crib? IS THAT FOR ME?”. She couldn’t wait to tuck her baby in and let her sleep! The most important thing to remember when using vintage furniture in children’s rooms is to make sure there is no lead paint on them. You can buy lead paint kits at your local hardware store. Or you if you plan to paint the piece, make sure to remove any chipping paint, paint over it, and then seal the paint. I also always use Country Chic Paint on all of Ryan’s furniture because it’s safe and non-toxic!
She loves the finished crib and I catch her in here tucking her baby to bed and singing her lullabies! It makes my mama heart smile knowing that she loves something I created from trash!
