What type of stovetop do you have? I have a glass top and if that's what you have, here's how I clean it:

First, I wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove crumbs, smears, etc. Next, I add a few drops of dish detergent to a steel wool pad (if I have stubborn stains) or a scrubbing sponge (for general cleaning) and scour the top well. I also usually remove the knobs to get the crumbs clean from under them too. Next, I rinse with a damp dish cloth, and finally dry and buff with a dry dish towel, then replace the knobs. A flat razor works for burned on stains that won't scour off. I've cleaned this way for years and have never had any scratches.

    Hope this helps!

Flat top? Bar keepers friend. For REALLY stuck on, burn on stuff, get after it, gently, with a razor blade tipped nearly flat. For conventional burners with burned on spatter, use oven cleaner. let sit for a couple minutes, then wipe away. -Stacytoryenclean.com

I wipe down with soapy dish towel first, using warm water and blue Dawn. If that isn't sufficient, then I use GP66 degreaser or a paste of baking soda & peroxide.

    Hi Norie,

Barkeepers Friend is something I would use. You could try Baking soda,Dish soap and a drop of hot water. Let it soak a bit if stuff is burnt on.
