How can I repair and paint laminate floors to lighten them?
I am tired of my fake wood laminate floors. I want to lighten them up. Also they are separating in spots, can I use wood putty in the cracks?

I would check with the manufacturer. But, you probably can, since most laminate flooring can be painted with careful prep. It sounds like a floating floor (not glued down), which is where you are getting separation. The filler would probably crack as the floor shifts.

I used Durham putty in my floor cracks. It comes in a powder, just add water to the consistency you desire.
