You can purchase caulking in either a tube that you squeeze, similar to toothpaste, or in a hard tube that you administer with a caulking gun. You can use a tool to smooth but I always use my finger. Since you are a first timer, I would recommend the toothpaste style.
Make sure the area is clean and dry. Squeeze the caulk into the area and smooth. Wipe you hand clean and continue to the next section. It doesn't dry quickly so you will have plenty of time to get it right.
If you want to use a smoothing tool, they are fairly inexpensive and can be picked up at any hardware store.

Hi Connie, here's a great video tutorial that will show you how - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEsy7luzUTI
Hi Connie,
You can buy Waterproof Caulking from the DIY. It comes in large Tubes and administered via a pressure gun. Instructions are on the tube. Basically you need to hold the tube one cut, at an angle to the bath seam and squeeze the gun. You will need to have steady grip and be able to hold a straight line (this takes practice).
Any smoothing out can be done before it set with the use of a wet finger. Good luck! Practice a bit first............
