Washing Machine Cleaning Tutorial
Once you get the odors out of your washing machine, you can help KEEP them out (especially with front loaders) by leaving the door open for at least and hour after the load comes out.... and training the husband and kids to do the same. I have an old terry cloth dish towel that I fold so that it is fairly thick (fold width wise not length wise)... when I put the final load of clothes in the dryer.... the towel goes across the door at the hinge for at least an hour.... some time later... I move the towel to the top of the door so that the door stays ajar about 1/2 to 1 inch... and there it stays until I need to wash clothes again... I rarely have to clean out the washer due to mildew
I run white vinegar though the wash cycle, then I wipe out the inside and the gaskets with a wet paper towel. One that's soaked with water and vinegar.
