Good Day Joan! I always find that rearranging furniture means physically moving it around to get a different look. I do this every year at Christmas time to find a different spot for the tree...and then I pretty much move it all back because I need a bigger living room! It looks like you have room in your dining room on the wall by the door for your display cabinet and perhaps you could use the shelves by the kitchen door on either side! You could turn your dining room table so it sets parallel with the longest walls as well as the coffee table. Have fun and don't hurt yourself!
What are the problems you are having? That's a great place to start for ideas - what don't you like about your current layout?
Joan: a simple solution would be to put the shelves on a dining room wall. When neatly arranged, it'll look great!
Move the TV stand to where the couch is. The couch to where the two chairs are and the two chairs to where the TV is now.
I agree with Adrienne on living room layout. Shelves on one wall in dining room and display cabinet on opposite wall.
Assuming you want/need to keep the TV & stand on the wall where it is now located, I suggest placing your couch on the wall opposite it. Then place the end tables on each end of the couch. Place one chair on near the sofa but on opposite sides. Coffee table lengthwise in front of sofa.
Seems like you have a lot of furniture. Is that part of the problem ?
I agree with moving the TV to the end wall. It would be nice to have shelves all across that wall with the TV built in. The couch should be facing the TV. Not sure if your drawing is to scale but if it is then also move everything back further towards the dining room.
I agree with Adrienne and Janice. If you float the couch into the room, get a sofa table behind it with a lamp on it so it makes kinda an entrance into the room and someplace to lay down your keys. or you could get a couple short bookcases to put behind the couch if you have a lot of books.
I would flip the couch and the two chairs and place a table behind the couch. It gives the room a nice dvision.
I'd also edit some furniture out of that space, I think. Unless the proportions are off, it looks like it might be a little crowded compared to the end of the room with the dining table. The display hutch would be good in the dining area and I would probably even try the two chairs over there, too.
I love rearranging furniture! You should give us an update when it's done!
Hi,
Put the picture shelves next to the door to the kitchen - Dining table side of room.
Put the Hutch across the unused Door. Hope you get it sorted soon.
