I would dilute the paint with 25% water and be careful to not oversaturate it, if it has a paper lining.
Hi Demaris, here's a link to show how to have fun and update a lampshade. You can also paint it solid and there are many youtube videos available where you can see just how individuals have updated their shades with acrylic craft paint, wall paint, spray paint and even watercolors.

Hello there,
You could use Chalk Paint!
It would be difficult to paint a fabric lampshade which yours appears to be. Better to dye it.
I agree! Add a small amount of water to your paint I usually use a chalk based or mineral based paint and begin to paint the lampshade. It will take 2-3 coats. :)
Which color? The important thing o me is the color.

Keep in mind that any paint applied to any lampshade will reduce the intensity, and possibly the color also of the light being emitted from the lamp.
Tenga en cuenta que la pintura aplicada a cualquier pantalla reducida la intensidad y posiblemente el color de la luz emitida por la lampara.
You can use spray paint from the can.Use whatever colour you like
I've tried a few different painting techniques, spray paint, chalk paint and watered down chalk paint. I did NOT like any of them. The straight spray paint took about 4 coats and looks horrible with the light shining through. There are steaks, darker and lighter areas and the light is definitely diffused. It's like a solid black lampshade. The other two techniques turned out horribly. There are steaks, light and dark areas, and looks like a 2 year old painted them. I won't ever try painting a lampshade again. 🤣🤣
I have also recovered a couple in fabric. They turned out better but not great. You just need to take your time, make sure the fabric is cut perfect so it looks clean and neat. Then on the edges, you can use a ribbon or fringe. You definitely need to cover the edges though. I folded the fabric under to the inside of one and it's ok. I think I'll stick to just buying new lampshades in the future. 😂😂😂
I hope you find a solution that works for you. 😊
