Sweaters are very forgiving as most don’t wrinkle and therefore I would fold them to most-compactly fit in their drawer.
As in fold-to-fit.
You could eather fold by holding the neck and the 2 shoulders together swing the arms under and then fold in half. Or cut a 9 by 13 square and place in the middle of the sweater fold over one side and fold over other side then take the bottom and bring it over up and over the sweater.then pull cardboard out from top.
Hi Darlene. I fold my sweaters like you would fold a shirt. With the sleeves in the back and folded over one time. I find that they keep their shape the best.
Hi Darlene - For shirts and sweaters, I lay it flat upside down, fold the sides in to create a rectangle. Then fold it up into thirds. This is how all of mine are folded and stacked in clear bins in my closet. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

Always the odd one out, I roll my sweaters so I don't get fold lines during storage. Does depend on how thin or thick the sweater is too.
