Hello Melinda,
A mood board is only a collection of Wallpaper, Fabric, Colours, Paints, Pictures , Magazine cuttings etc. that you like and will help you in your choices for your room.
It's easy Practice a bit for a pretend room. It is just a collection of things you like the look of, even including Ornaments, Rug designs. You can do it! give it a go...........
I recommend using the free online software Canva
Get a large cardboard eather paint it or contact paper it thrn start adding what you like to it
Any image editor can help you do this. Canva is a common free software. If you have a Mac, you would love Affinity! It's a one time cost but it can do everything photo-shop can do and it isn't too expensive.
I must agree, Canva is a good one when it comes to mood boards. Some time ago I would recommend you Pinterest, but what I don't like is that not every picture posted here gets all the credits.
Canva has a free version, as K.Rupp said, and for me, it's more than enough. If I don't have enough filters for images I just edit them myself and then import them to my Canva account. Not sure if there are any limits for uploaded images, but I've been using it for two years already without any problems.
