Roberta...l buy a leather cleaner at the grocery store..works well for me..good luck
If it is a real leather I would stay with the store bought leather cleaner for a couch. On smaller items I have used dove bath soap in the past and it has worked great. https://uniquecreationsbyanita.com/how-to-restore-a-leather-top-desk/

Cleaning Your Leather Couch
I would vacuum, dust, then clean with saddle soap and then a good leather conditioner to keep it soft and supple.
Hi Roberta, we wipe ours down with warm soapy water and let them dry before applying a leather cream to feed and nourish the leather.
Hi Roberta. Begin with a thorough vacuuming. Use your brush attachment on your vacuum. Then make a solution of equal parts of vinegar and water. Dip a soft cloth in this solution and ring it out so that the cloth is damp. Wipe the entire couch down. Dry with a clean towel. Do NOT use a blow dryer. Apart from the vinegar solution, you can clean it with a moisturizing soap (such as Dove) and water (bring it to lather and then wipe). Good luck Roberta.
I use the leather cleaner and conditioner sold at automotive stores. My couches and chairs are 9 years old and still look like new.
Hi ! I used magic eraser to clean mine . I had the type of soft brain leather , not the shiny leather . And definitely try it on an area that won't be seen to check for colorfastness . Good luck !!!
